Public transport has also started to come back on city roads where petrol pumps and CNG stations are also opening up.
Saddar, Empress Market, Tariq Road, Hyderi, along with all other major markets were closed during the day, but the business community announced that markets would begin to open on Tuesday evening.
On the MQM's call a day of mourning was being observed in protest against the recent wave of killings in Karachi.
