FAISALABAD: Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) has awarded capital punishment on two counts to an accused involved in a murder cum terrorist case of City Jaranwala police station.

According to the prosecution, Muhammad Ali shot dead his niece Sadia Firdos in front of the court of Additional Sessions Judge Jaranwala on January 07, 2011 when the ill-fated lady was coming out from the court after getting her statement recorded in favour of her spouse.

After observing evidences and witnesses, ATC Judge Mian Muhammad Nazeer awarded death sentence on two counts to Muhammad Ali under sections 302-B of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 7 of Anti Terrorist Act (ATA).

The convict was also directed to pay Rs 400,000 as fine and compensation.

The learned judge also handed down the accused with 5 years imprisonment and fine of Rs 50,000 on using pistol publicly while the convict will also have to undergo another 10 years imprisonment on creating terror and harassment in court premises.
