Shopkeepers fined on profiteering

FAISALABAD: As many as 2,195 shopkeepers were fined so farin district Faisalabad during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak on charge of profiteering, overcharging and non-display of rate lists at conspicuous places in their shops.

According to a spokesman of City District Government (CDG), special price control magistrates conducted raids in 1,456 markets, shopping plazas, bazaars etc. situated in different parts of Faisalabad during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak and nabbed 2,195 shopkeepers red handed while charging extensive prices of daily use items than their fixed rates.

Hence, the raiding officers handed down these shopkeepers with a total fine of Rs 3.1921 million.

Meanwhile, the raiding officers also got cases registered against 117 shopkeepers on sheer violation of Price Control Act, he added.
