75 challans against overcharging

LAHORE: Price Control Magistrates of the City Government during ongoing drive got arrested five shopkeepers after lodging FIRs besides issuing challans against 75 others for overcharging and hoarding in various areas on Friday.

The magistrates also imposed fine of Rs 87,100 during the crackdown in Ramazan Bazaars.

According to a report presented to the DCO on Friday, the special teams checked more than 156 shopkeepers, wholesale dealers and stockist across the city out of which 80 were found violating the price act and the action was taken against them.

DCO Ahad Cheema directed the city administration to take appropriate measures to ensure availability essential items at reasonable rates. He said that the government was utilizing all possible resources to provide good quality essential items to the public on reduced rates .

He also issued instructions to ensure the sale of essential items on wholesale rates at all super stores. (APP)
