RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar said that strict security arrangements have been made during Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said additional police personnel have been deployed at the main city markets, mosques and Eid congregations.
Talking to APP he said that special directives have been passed on to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas and pay surprise visits at police pickets set up within their jurisdictions.
He said that special instructions have been given to officers concerned to ensure 24-hour patrolling in their areas, adding that SHOs were also carrying out patrolling in their jurisdictions.
CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar said, "The city police is fully alert and keeping a vigilant eye on anti-state elements."
He has requested the public to cooperate with the police in curbing terrorist elements and immediately inform the authorities after observing any suspicious movement in any area of the city.
He said 15 check posts have been established to check vehicles at entry and exit points of the city. Rapid response squads have also been formed, he added.
