KUNRI: The heavy rains that lashed Kunri and adjoining areas of Mirpurkhas district destroyed the standing crops of cotton and chili causing huge financial losses to the growers.
The Kunri is known as the biggest chili market of Asia, as the chili is cultivated over thousands of acres and this area is linked to entire country due to chili trade.
The traders foresee unprecedented increase in price of chili as a result of crop destruction. The entire area could be seen under water including Talhi, Nabisar, Darelo, Pako Morr, Kapar Chelho etc. where the villagers, engaged in chili and cotton cultivation, are living under open sky without any help.
The growers said the loss estimation could be done after the rainwater recedes. (PPI)
