KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has sought resignation from Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan after presenting a charge sheet against him.
Addressing a press conference, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar presented a charge sheet against Sindh Governor and said, “if Dr Ebad is sincere, he must tender resignation in protest over atrocities against MQM and join the movement again.”
He said Dr Ebad was offered Governorship in 2002 and he took oath of his office on December 27, 2002, adding that in the beginning Ebad performed better for Sindh province and utilised his energies to redress the issues of masses.
“Ebad utilised his time and energies as per the vision of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain”, he said and added that Sindh Governor was fully supported by Hussain at that time.
Dr Ebad had tendered resignation from the MQM but remained a sympathiser of the party, he added.
Farooq Sattar said that after sometimes the behavior adopted by the Sindh Governor could not be overlooked.
Dr Sattar alleged that killing of MQM workers began after Pakistan People's Party (PPP) came in power in Sindh in 2008. He said genocide of party sympathisers continued and even Muhajir majority areas were attacked, however, Sindh Governor failed to prevent it.
He said party drew Ebad’s attention towards this serious matter, but he remained silent over all these issues.
Sattar went on to say that killers of 1200 workers of MQM were freely roaming in the city. Party offices were being raided, he added.
