Quaid's 63rd death anniversary observed

ISLAMABAD: The 63rd death anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was observed on Sunday with a renewed pledge to follow his message of "unity, faith and discipline" and to make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country.

People from all walks of life, including government functionaries, political leaders and workers visited the Quaid's mausoleum in Karachi to lay wreaths and offer Fateha.

Quran Khawani was held in all major mosques of the country, including the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad for eternal peace to the soul of Quaid-i-Azam.

Various organizations arranged functions to highlight different aspects of the life of Quaid-i-Azam who led the Muslims of the Sub-continent in a long struggle to obtain a separate homeland.

Speakers in different programmes, while paying tributes to the Quaid-i-Azam, underlined the need for making all-out efforts to make the country a real progressive state.

A number of social, cultural and educational programmes were also held in Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and cities to pay tribute to the Quaid-i-Azam.

Private and state-run channels aired special programmes while national dailies including E-newspapers published special supplements to apprise the people about the Father of the Nation.

Born on December 25, 1876 at Wazir Mansion Karachi, Jinnah hada vision for the problems which Pakistan would face in the years to come. Though he lived slightly over a year after the creation of Pakistan, the Quaid wanted to see his country become a role model for other nations - free from corruption, nepotism and hypocrisy.
