LAHORE: Secretary Punjab Mineral Development Corporation, Ataullah Siddiqui died of Dengue fever Monday, Geo News reported.

He was hospitalised on Friday after he was diagnosed with the virus. Siddiqui who joined government services in 1985 leaves behind a wife and two daughters.

His death comes as the number of Dengue patients continues to rise across Punjab and Lahore in particular where over 3,000 cases have been reported. The virus has also claimed the lives of ten people in the province.

Meanwhile hospitals in the province are finding it difficult to cope with the large number of Dengue cases. Emergency has been declared in all hospitals of Lahore due to the Dengue virus.
