12,299 cattle died, millions displaced by monsoon rains

HYDERABAD: Sindh Livestock Minister Abid Hussain Jatoi says 12‚299 cattle-heads died and millions displaced by prevailing heavy monsoon rains in the province.

Talking to newsmen, he said Livestock Department had prepared a contingency plan to meet the situation‚ under which as many as 269 veterinary relief camps and 45 mobile veterinary relief camps had been set up since August 12 providing treatment to animals in rain- affected districts.

He said all veterinary units working in rain affected areas were fully equipped with all facilities and teams remain in affected areas till situation becomes normal. He appealed organizations in the country and abroad to help in rescue, relief operation to save animals. (PPI)
