KARACHI: The district and sessions court on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to K-Electric's Chief Executive Officer Moonis Alvi in exchange for Rs 200,000 bail bonds in a case related to the death of a youth from electrocution in the city's DHA.
The court has ordered police not to arrest Alvi till August 25, after granting him the pre-arrest bail. It also directed the KE CEO to join the police investigation of the case.
Last week, a case had been filed against K-Electric's chief executive after a youth died of electrocution in the city's Defence Phase VII area.
The case, filed at the Defence Police Station named four people, including the Karachi power distribution company.
The FIR was filed by the boy's uncle, who had told police that the 22-year-old was in Karachi for a visit from Mansehra when he died from electrocution. It included provisions for murder.

The deceased's uncle had claimed that he, along with the boy, had gone out for a walk when they saw that there was no door fixed at a substation of the power utility.
"Faizan went inside and got electrocuted," he said, adding that after the incident took place, KE accused his nephew of theft.
KE, while expressing grief over the incident, had said that the youngster had entered the substation without permission.
"K-Electric continues to run awareness campaigns in order to inform people to stay away from power installations," the spokesperson had said.
