FAISALABAD: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to eliminate corruption from government institutions.

This was stated by Muhammad Abid Javaid, Director General ACE Punjab, while chairing a meeting here on Sunday.

He said that under new strategy, prosecution of the corrupt officials arrested under corruption allegations would be completed within 2-3 months and they would be awarded exemplary punishments if allegations were proved true.

He said there were about 200-225 proclaimed offenders in corruption cases in Punjab. Out of them, seven belonged to Faisalabad, he said and added that the anti-corruption department was also focusing on preparation of a database which would provide detailed information about corrupt elements in government departments.

Earlier, Aamir Ejaz Akbar, Regional Director Anti Corruption Faisalabad, informed the director general that total 2,138 complaints were received by the department from January 01 to August 31, 2011.

Out of total, inquiry was ordered on 1,114 complaints while 299 were disposed of. Similarly, 209 complaints were sent to their respective departments for investigation while 316 are under process.

He said that there were total 418 cases in court and only four accused were convicted so far and 83 were acquitted by the court whereas 244 cases were still pending.
