Capital cops make headways in 2011

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police emerged successfully against the criminal gangs involved in crimes of heinous nature and arrested a total of 1344 gangsters besides busting 382 criminal gangs during the current year, a police spokesman said.

A total of 16 gangs involved in blind murder and kidnapping for ransom cases were traced and a total of 45 persons involved in these cases were arrested. During the same period, a total of 34 gangs involved in immoral activities had been busted and 255 accused were
also apprehended.

Around 229 gangs involved in burglaries, theft and dacoities were busted and 745 criminals involved in it were arrested while 33 gangs of car thieves were unearthed besides arrests of 99 car thieves.

The IGP Bani Amin Khan has said that commitment and devotion by the personnel of Islamabad Police despite several constraints made them successful against the criminal elements this year.

He said police officers and jawans remained firm against the menace of terrorism and also emerged successful during the ongoing year in countering criminal elements, the murderers, drug pushers, robbers and criminal gangs.

IGP Bani Amin remarked that policing has become very much tough job in the present situation but one should appreciate those performing well as the ratio of the total traced cases and countering terror threats is really appreciable.

He said that citizens are, and should be proud of the fact that
Islamabad Police, barring a few cases, have always performed diligently and respond quickly to SoS calls from public.

SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik has appreciated this performance and said that main reason behind this success is the strategy of community and vigilant policing. He vowed to continue these efforts for effective policing and make police department service-oriented in real manner. (APP)
