Father marries off 10-year old girl to resolve debt

FAISALABAD: A 10 year old girl was married off to a 28 year old man by her addict father in order to resolve a debt, Geo News reported.

The police have arrested the groom and the person who conducted the Nikkah after they received a complaint from the girl's mother. According to the groom the girl's father had taken a loan of Rs 15,000 from him and in order to repay him he had agreed to the marriage.

The police have registered a case under the child marriage act.
