US confirms Haqqani commander killed in drone strike

WASHINGTON: A US official on Thursday confirmed that a top Haqqani commander had been killed in a drone strike in North Waziristan.

"It's been confirmed that Janbaz Zadran, aka Jamil, was killed in North Waziristan, ," the official said, adding that his death "makes him the most senior Haqqani leader in Pakistan to be taken off the battlefield." (AFP)
