ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Orthopedics Association's 25th International Pak Orthocon Conference commenced here on Friday with the theme 'Training for all'.
Eminent Orthopaedic surgeons from different parts of the country and abroad are attending the scientific sessions of the conference.
The mega event has been organized by the Pakistan Orthopaedic
Society.
All Orthopedics departments of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad jointly have organized the moot.
The main objectives of the conference are to impart knowledge and training for improving the orthopaedic services in the hospitals.
Addressing on the occasion, Surgeon General of Pakistan Armed Forces Lieutenant General M. Rehan Burney appreciated the contributions of orthopaedic surgeons in the country's hospitals.
He said that the participants have been provided a unique opportunity to experts as well as young surgeons to share their knowledge and experiences and learn latest techniques and procedures of treatment.
He expressed his concern over the braindrain from Pakistan and asked medical professionals to serve in the country.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Dr. Khalid Aslam said that scientific sessions would be held while the international experts would also deliver lectures.
He added this opportunity enables residents to improve their technical skills and efforts have been made to make the event intellectually rewarding experience for the participants.
Professor Brig. Sohail Hafeez giving outline of scientific programme informed that 150 participants have been trained in pre-conference workshops conducted in different hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
He also gave an overview of the scientific sessions of the conference. (APP)
