MANCHESTER: Roberto Mancini has spoken of his plans to remain at Manchester City for "many years" as he looks to pledge his long-term future to the mega-rich club.

The Manchester City manager, who succeeded Mark Hughes in December 2009, has less than two years remaining on his current contract.

Yet after guiding Manchester City to their first trophy success in 35 years by winning the FA Cup last season, he further strengthened his position by leading them into the Champions League.

With Manchester City now top of the Premier League, having made their best league start since 1897, the Italian has also boosted his power base over his handling of Carlos Tevez's alleged refusal to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich last month.

Mancini, who revealed discussions over a new contract have not begun and are not a priority, says he wants to continue the revolution at the Etihad Stadium for a while longer yet. (AFP)
