CAIRO: Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who was freed on Tuesday after a five year detention by Palestinian militants told Egyptian television he was in good health, in his first interview since his release.

"I feel like I am in good health," Shalit said in Hebrew.

Wearing a checkered shirt and smiling occasionally, Shalit took short breaths as he told how he had heard one week ago that he would be allowed to return home.
