KARACHI: Police Record and Office Management Information System (PROMIS) is ready to launch after adopting some minor logistics requirement and maintenance of equipment already installed at sites.
This was informed at a meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police Sindh, Wajid Ali Khan held at Central Police Office, Karachi.
Director, Information Technology, Sindh Police, Tabbasum Abid during her presentation disclosed that the Main Data Center was connected with 196 sites including Police Stations and commanding offices throughout the province.
According to statistics, 125 sites have been designed in Karachi, 24 in Hyderabad, 7 in MirpurKhas, 11 in Sukkur, 11 in Larkana and one each in all 18 districts.
She revealed that at first phase of its operation, PROMIS would be able to feed information of FIRs and Daily Station Diary (DSD), assignment of investigation and progress in a central database. She added that criminal record with picture and finger prints would be included in second step.
She stated that the system was linked with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarter and in addition the system has the capability to link with NADRA and NARA.
"After the successful launch of the project, all FIRs would be computer generated in English, Urdu and Sindhi languages. System is designed to compile data of various police stations in central database at
IG Office, she said.
IG Sindh issued directive to DIGP/East to co-ordinate start of operation at 125 designated sites in
Karachi. He further issued directive to DIGP/Administration, Karachi to identify and enlist computer
literate Police personnel for initiating the project at an accelerated pace.
Wajid Ali Khan also constituted a Steering Committee comprising of DIGP/Administration, DIGP/DG
Finance, Director Information Technology and AIGP/Administration to finalize the matter for an early successful launching of project.--PPI
