MULTAN: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Multan chapter on Thursday criticized the Punjab government over the dismissal of 13 ad-hoc doctors of Multan Institute of Cardiology (MIC) to make room for new incumbents through public service commission.
PMA Multan general secretary Dr Kashif Chishti said at a news conference that it was an injustice to Multan where ad-hoc doctors were terminated from service to make room for PSC candidates pleading that Punjab government could have created new seats for new incumbents like they did in Lahore and other districts of upper Punjab.
The PMA Multan also criticized the transfer of 15 doctors from Nishtar Hospital Multan. Kashif said that the 13 doctors sacked by Punjab government were trained anaesthetists who helped a lot in reducing the number of pending heart related surgery cases at the MIC.
The doctors transferred from Nishtar Hospital were also senior doctors and their absence would affect the performance of the hospital, PMA Multan office bearers said.
They said that the only solution to the issue was the creation of new seats for the sacked doctors in Multan.
