ISLAMABAD: Leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Saturday in the Supreme Court challenged President Asif Ali Zardari’s appointment as NAB chairman, Admiral (retd.) Fasih Bukhari.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan through his advocate Akram Sheikh, filing a petition under Article 184 of the constitution in the Supreme Court, has made respondents the government, secretary law and Admiral (retd.) Fasih Bukhari.

In this 17-point petition, it is said that the constitutional requirement of consultation was not completed in case of the appointment of NAB chairman. The petition also questioned the ability of President Zardari for the appointment of NAB chairman and also made a point that the requirement for consultation with the Chief Justice of Pakistan was also not met.

The petition prayed for restraining the NAB chairman from work, issue stay order and declare the very appointment of Fasih Bukhari on the slot invalid.
