FAISALABAD: A four-day Rabi Kisan Mela arranged by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) as a part of its golden jubilee celebrations concluded at Old Senate Hall, UAF here on Saturday.
On this occasion a prize distribution ceremony was also held which was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan.
Ayub Agriculture Research Institute clinched overall first position in Agri exhibition while the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Women Industrial Home stood second and third respectively.
Addressing the audience, UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan lauded the efforts made on the part of UAF staff in order to make the celebrations a memorable event.
He said as many as 350 PhDs holders were working with the university and out of them, 200 were foreign qualified, ensuring the quality of the education at the campus.
Dean Faculty of Agriculture Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq said that the university was committed to provide quality education and uplift the agriculture sector that is backbone of the national economy.
Chairman Plant Breeding and Genetics Department Professor Dr. Abdus Salam also spoke.
Shields were also given away to the conveners of various committees formed to conducting Kisan Mela in a most befitting manner.
The late agricultural scientists, who proved their mettle in the fields of agriculture and education, of the university were also decorated with Life Time Achievements Award, as a token of respect. These awards were received by their family members.
