Blood donors registration centers set up in allied hospitals

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed has said that blood donors registration centers has been established in all the three teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi where citizens specially youth including girl and boy students of colleges and universities may get their names registered for donation of blood.

He said that private clinics and laboratories would also be encouraged to establish blood donors registration camps in the city and cantonment areas of Rawalpindi with a view to register maximum number of blood donors.

The objective of registration of blood donors is that hospitals and clinics should have sufficient number of blood donors registered with them so that they may donate blood in circumstances of emergency to help the ailing community and combat diseases like Dengue, he added.

The Commissioner informed that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif blood donors registration will be done at massive level and for setting a trend among the youth to donate blood for serious and Dengue patients and combating other challenges of epidemic diseases.

He said that Health Department Punjab Rawalpindi has also constituted various teams for the registration of blood donors which will visit big public and private institutions, colleges and universities for registration of donors. He added that a team of Health Department Rawalpindi today visited Police Lines Rawalpindi and registered the names of blood donors there.

The Commissioner further informed that City Lab., a private clinical laboratory has also established blood donors registration camp on Murree Road. He appealed the citizens especially girl and boy students of colleges of Rawalpindi city and cantonment area to get their names registered as blood donors in any center established in Rawalpindi for the cause of humanity and helping the ailing community. He said that the teams of blood donors would be supervised by the EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal and under a comprehensive plan, registration of blood donors would be done to register maximum number of donors.

He said that alive nations always get them prepared and plan for meeting any emergency or challenge in all fields and the campaign of registration of blood donors would also prove very helpful for fighting against diseases like Dengue.
