HYDERABAD: The Director General Health Services Sindh, Hifizul Huq Memon, has said that government is providing health facilities to hundreds of thousands of peopleaffected due to heavy monsoon rains in Sindh.
He informed that up till now 15,06,793 patients had been treated in 22 fixed and 22 mobile medical camps by 219 doctors.
He informed in his report that most of the people in affected areas are suffering in skin, diarrhea diseases and Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI).
He informed that 242,953 patients of skin diseases, 187,974patients of diarrhea, 270,763 patients of ARI, 25,986 patients of dysentery, 73,811 patients of eye infection and 869 patients of snakebite had also been treated.
He also informed that 6,827 patients' malaria tests were positive and 287,685 people were suspected of malaria.
He said that till October 26, 2011 as many as 540 people got injured and 118 died in rain related incidents in Sindh.
He said that anti malaria spray and fumigation as well as immunization of children and pregnant women were also being carried out.
