ISLAMABAD: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the suo moto case regarding railways' pensioners, Geo News reported.

During proceedings, the Supreme Court ordered that cases of corrupt railways' officials will be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Chairman Pakistan Railways (PR) assured the apex court that pensions will be paid on Tuesday (November 1) and bank accounts for pensioners will be opened within a month. He added that from December, their pensions would be deposited into their accounts.

Former PR Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed informed the court that new engines were only being purchased so corrupt officials can pocket the commission.
