KARACHI: The Met Office on Monday said that a spell of widespread rain is likely to hit the city and other coastal areas of lower Sindh on Wednesday and continue for one more day.

A MET official said that a well marked low pressure which has turned into a deep depression is staying some 500 kilometers southwest of Salalah, Oman and about 1000 kilometers of Balochistan, moving in northwesterly direction.

He said that this strong weather system is likely to hit eastern coast of Oman with widespread heavy rain and strong gusty winds Tuesday afternoon.

Under the influence of this system, widespread rain is expected in southern Balochistan from Tuesday and later in the coastal areas of Sindh including Karachi.

Flood affected areas of lower Sindh may also receive scattered rain/thundershowers on Wednesday and Thursday, he added. (APP)
