ISLAMABAD: The employees of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) protested against the proposed privatization of power distribution companies (Discos), Geo News reported Tuesday.
The IESCO officials along with the engineers and labour union gathered outside the head office and protested against the privatization of WAPDA. The labour union told that the protest is taking place in the entire IESCO region and all the employees except the emergency staff are taking part in the demonstrations.
The protestors demanded the government that loadshedding should be ended and power rates should be decreased.
While protesting in Lahore, the protestors blocked the Mall Road.
Labour Union chief Rasheed Ahmed Khan said that privatization would not solve the problem as power is already expensive and short.
Union leaders said that the entire country would face black out if the decision to privatize WAPDA is not revoked.
