PO killed in police encounter

FAISALABAD: A proclaimed offender (PO) was killed in a police encounter in the area of Millat Town police station here on late Wednesday.

According to police, four bandits forced their entry into Jannat Garments Factory in Chak No.196-RB Ghona and took workers and staff hostage at gunpoint.

However, owner of the factory informed Rescue 15 through his cell phone. On information, police party reached the spot and encircled the factory.

The robbers started firing on police and during an exchange of fire, an allegedly robber was killed while his three accomplices fled.

The killed outlaw was identified as Hafiz Tahir Imran of Chak No.306-GB, Toba Tek Singh who was wanted in a number of dacoities, robberies and other crimes.

A spokesman of police told that Hafiz Imran was also involved in killing of seven people during a dacoity at Sheikhupura and in murder of 11 people in Faisalabad.
