RAWALPINDI: The residents of New & Old Lalazar, Rah-i- Aman, Adiala and various other areas are greatly perturbed with the continous break-up of Firdousi Road which connects them to a number of Cantt localities.
The entry point of the road has broken up and caused a number of accidents as motorists try to avoid the craters on it. All traffic from The Mall enters the road to join Adiala and Tufail roads.
The residents told APP that they have made several complaints to the Chaklala Cantonment authorities but of no avail.
When asked, Senior Cannt Engineer Shaikh Riaz told the Agency that he had no pick-up to carry out the task and expressed his inability to get the task completed.
Ashfaq Ahmed, a resident of Tufail Road, said while the Army had widened and dualized numerous roads, it was strange that the Cannt officials were unable to carry out simple repair work and a number of roads in the area were turning into ponds due to lethargy of the civic body staff.
The only good news for the residents was that expansion and rehabilitation work of Dhoke Juma Road is about to get underway as MNA Malik Abrar has got funds sanctioned for the job from the provincial government, the Engineer said.
The residents have urged the Station Commander to look into the matter to rectify the situation before it worsens further.
