QUETTA: Balochistan Education Department will distribute textbooks worth Rs. 150 million among the secondary school's students besides awarding 150 scholarships to the students from the province during the current financial year.

The Provincial Additional Secretary Education told a local news agency here Sunday that about 1385 new vacancies of different categories of teachers had been created and an amount of Rs. 25 million had been allocated which would be distributed among the private sector educational institutions through Balochistan Education Foundation (BEF) as financial assistance on the part of provincial government.

Besides, construction of buildings of 650 community schools would also be undertaken through BEF and 100 new primary schools would be established during the current year.

About upgradation of schools, he said 50 primary schools would be upgraded as middle schools and an educational enclave would be established in Mastung district.

Four newly established polytechnic colleges in Gwadar, Turbat, Muslimbagh and Khanozai areas would also be made fully functional, he added.

An amount of Rs. 8.869 billion has been earmarked for provincial health sector of which Rs. 1.426 billion would be spent on completion of ongoing health schemes during the next financial year, a provincial Health department official said.

He said all the basic health units across the province have been activated under PPHI project besides increasing the stipend for house officers and postgraduate medical students.

He said Rs. one billion each have been allocated for free medicines distribution among the needy patients and repair of existing medical equipments in the hospitals respectively.

Likewise, Rs. 69 million have been set in the next provincial budget to reactivate 153 health units across the province. (APP)
