HYDERABAD: Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Asif Memon said as part of the security measures for Muahrram-ul-Harram, controls rooms will be set up in offices of all the assistant commissioners (ACMs) including his own.
The telephone numbers of those offices would be available to mourners organizations and the other people concerned, he added while chairing a meeting at his office on Tuesday with officials of the government and public utility companies, and representatives of mourners' organizations.
Memon directed Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to clear the roads temporarily where development work was underway as these are traditional routes of the processions.
He also ordered Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the municipal officers to ensure cleanliness and avoid accumulation of sewage water on the roads.
The Health Department was also asked to enforce emergency and make available all their staff and ambulances.
Traffic congestion remains one big problem while the processions were being taken out, the Deputy Commissioner said asking the officers of the Traffic Police Department to devise a route map and to coordinate with the departments concerned as to ensure alternate routes free of jams.
The police will beef up security and all the entry and exit points of the district will be manned to monitor vehicles moving in and out of the city.
Besides, additional deployment will be made at the Railways stations, bus stands and hotels.
The Deputy Commissioner asked Senior Superintendent of Police Syed Asad Raza Shah to provide adequate security to the processions and majalis.
SP Traffic Police Gul Hassan Shaikh, Assistant Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi, SDPO Khawar Akbar Shaikh, officials of HESCO, SSGC, WASA, HDA and representatives of the mourners' organizations attended the meeting. (APP)
