131,895 police deployed for Ashura

LAHORE: As many as 131,895 police officials will perform their duties during Moharramul Harram, including 89,588 police force and 6,200 Elite Police Force.

It was decided in a high level meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police Punjab Javed Iqbal held here on Saturday.

The IGP was informed that 166 walk through gates would be installed at sensitive places whereas 8,797 metal detectors and 866 CCTV cameras had already been provided to all regions of Punjab.

The department has deployed 14,372 policemen in Lahore region, 8,121 in Sheikhupura, 16,879 in Gujranwala, 18,396 in Rawalpindi, 6,795 in Sargodha, 21,813 in Faisalabad, 10,940 in Multan, 4,538 in Sahiwal, 10,012 in DG Khan and 13,829 in Bahawalpur region. (APP)
