Ulema urged to play role for peaceful passage of Muharram

RAWLPINDI: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab and Chairman Muharram Committee for Rawalpindi Division, Raja Muhammad Ashfaq Sarwar here on Tuesday urged ulema and religious scholars to play their role for the peaceful passage of Muharram.

He also urged the district administration and elected representatives and to join hands to maintain the harmony and peaceful atmosphere during Muharram.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of District Peace Committee held in DCO office, Rawalpindi. The meeting was attended among other by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed, RPO Capt. Muhammad Zubar, DCO Saqib Zafar, SAO Aqeel Ahmed Khan, CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar, MNAs Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Malik Shakil Awan, MPAs Malik Ghulam Raza, Raja Fayyaz Sarwar, Zia Ullah Shah, eminent scholars of different sects Allama Syed Izhar Hussain Bukhari, Maulana Ashraf Ali, Allama Ashfaq Touheedi, Maulana Chiragh Uddin Shah, Maulana Shaukat Abbas Jafri, office bearers of traders union Shahid Ghafoor Piracha, Zulfiqar Kahut, Sheikh Siddique, Sharjeel Mir, All ACs of the disrtrict and all TMOs of the towns.

Commissioner Zahid Saeed said that every possible arrangement have beenmade to facilitate the mourners.

He said that all religious scholars must work to create harmony and avoid any provocation which may harm the sentiments of others.

Moreover, special cards to the members of District Peace Committee had been issued to perform peace duties during the Muharram.

Maulana Izhar Hussain Bukhari while speaking on the occasion demanded the provision of transport to the members of District Peace committee to visit Imam Bargahs and Masajid of the district to convey the message of peace. (APP)
