KARACHI: Commuters in Sindh region were hit by CNG closure as the supply was halted from 11 pm on Tuesday, Geo News reported. Public transport vanished from the roads as the vehicles could not be refueled due to long queues at gas stations.
The 48-hour closure till 11pm on Thursday is part of a schedule announced by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday, specifying the days and timings when the gas supply to CNG stations would be curtailed in the province till December 11.
Due to the scarcity of CNG, public transport remained unavailable and the commuters faced severe difficulties as their daily routine was affected adversely. Taking advantage of the situation, the taxi and rickshaw drivers also raised fares, said locals.
The SSGC discontinued supply to the CNG stations in Badin where the owners refused to abide by the loadshedding plan.
