Parents demand declaration of PUMHS entry test

HYDERABAD: The parents of candidates who had applied for admission in Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences (PUMHS), Benazirabad, have demanded declaration of the entry-test result of Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad divisions.

Protesting outside the press club here on Tuesday, Shaikh Mehmood, who led the protesters, said the announcement of the result was overdue for 20 days.

"Leaving aside Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions, the result of the candidates from other parts of Sindh had been announced 20 days ago," he maintained.

According to Mehmood, PUMHS's uploaded the result of the candidates of Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Noshehro Feroze, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Dadu on its website 3 weeks ago.

He said as per the rules stated in the admission prospectus the result of the entry test should have been announced within 10 days after the tests were held.

The parents complained that the future of their children would be at stake and they would loose a complete year of their study if they were not given admission.

"According to the new admission rules, the pre-entry tests of all the public sector medical universities Sindh were taken the same day," said Ayaz Shah.

Therefore, he added, a candidate applying in a particular medical university could not apply for admission to any other medical university due to the said restriction.

"We, the parents, would have been less anxious if the results had declared our children to have failed in the test. But, the withholding of the result without any reason has worried us a lot."

The parent on the occasion made a passionate appeal to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad to take notice of the matter and resolve their problem which concerns the future of their children. (APP)
