Rs 32.5 bln in refunds on fake receipts: FBR

ISLAMABAD: During 2006-2010 Rs 32.5 billion in refunds were collected through fake receipts, according to a spokesperson for the FBR.

These refunds were taken under the fake receipts of sales tax input adjustment.

According to the spokesperson the FBR has discovered 273 such cases and further investigation is underway.

Cases have also been lodged against those individuals who collected refunds though fake receipts. The court has already decided in the favour of the FBR in 41 such cases, the spokesperson added.
