LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accused the PML-N of unleashing a vicious propaganda campaign against the PTI, particularly Imran Khan.
The party’s Punjab President, Ahsan Rasheed, and Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas, in a press release here on Friday, said the PML-N’s strategy was to level false charges on TV channels and get them repeated in the print media by some columnists who were actually not-so-secret PML-N members.
They said that this had started after October 30 because Nawaz Sharif and his party were scared of being wiped out from the political map by the PTI. They said it was ironic that the PML-N was leading this vicious campaign whose leaders have amassed huge wealth through state power and had vast properties in London after transferring money illegally from Pakistan and who concealed their wealth to avoid taxes.
They alleged that Nawaz Sharif’s entire career in politics was built on plots and state money dished out to legislators, media people and other influentials. “For a person with such a tainted past to orchestrate a campaign against Imran Khan is another example of old and dirty politics that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf wants to change,” they said.
Two recent allegations made in a TV show and then repeated by a columnist whom Nawaz Sharif had appointed as ambassador twice, are a case in point.
