Budget 2022: What raise in salaries has been proposed for govt employees?

A 10-15% rise in government employee salaries has been recommended in the upcoming budget, documents obtained by Geo News on Friday showed.

According to the documents, it is expected that Rs47 billion will be earmarked for the salary raise.

It has been advised that no new tax be imposed on the salaried class, the papers show.

An allocation of Rs95bn for salaries and pensions is being considered, whereas an additional amount for pensions, to the tune of Rs47.7bn is also expected.

An overall budget of Rs527 for pensions is expected.

According to the documents, in the 2021-22 budget, Rs3,105 will be allocated for interest payments for loans, Rs501bn for subsidies and Rs994bn for grants.

For defence services, a budget of Rs1,330 has been proposed.
