TYRE: Five French UN soldiers and a Lebanese civilian were wounded on Friday by a powerful blast that targeted their patrol in the southern town of Tyre, a security official told AFP.

He said the blast took place in the eastern part of the coastal town as the soldiers were driving by in a Jeep.

An AFP correspondent at the site saw four wounded soldiers as rescuers and security forces rushed in.
