QUETTA: Speakers viewed that one of the major causes of terrorism was bad culture of corruption adding that society itself was responsible for promoting corruption.
This was said in a seminar "Together Fight against Corruption" organized by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan here on Friday.
Renowned human rights leader Ansar Burni said that corruption had encouraged terrorist forces to meet their nefarious designs easily adding that corruption had become one of the major causes of terrorism in our country.
He said that majority of Pakistani people were free of sectarian hatred and ethnicity adding that however, some evil elements were also present in our society. He emphasized the need to make subject of corruption the part of educational curriculum. He said that students of educational institutions should be given awareness on corruption.
Chief Secretary Balochistan Mir Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri stressed the need to launch effective measures to root up corruption. He said that corruption was being committed in funds of development projects, income tax and others. He said that embezzlements were being committed even in funds earmarked for widows and disable persons.
He lamented that some quarters also commit corruption in foreign aid received for rehabilitation of people affected by natural calamities of earthquake, floods and others. He said that reduced check and balance had created environment for growth of corruption.
Balochistan Secretary Sports Munir Ahmed Badini, Director NAB Balochistan Maj (retd) Burhan Ali, Dr. Sobia Ramazan and others were present.
