UAE takes back condition for Pakistani travellers to carry FO, embassy attested vaccination certificates
Travellers will only be required to carry the NADRA-issued vaccination certificate
- Pakistanis will be required to get a NADRA-issued vaccination certificate before travelling to UAE.
- Travellers will not be required to get the certificate attested by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Pakistan.
- Decision will come into effect from Aug 1, 2021.
The United Arab Emirates on Thursday issued new guidelines for Pakistani travellers and made it mandatory for them to carry a coronavirus vaccination certificate issued by theNational Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Earlier, the UAE said that Pakistani passengers will also be required to get the certificate attested by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Pakistan as well as the Foreign Office, but it later retracted the decision.
"The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Islamabad would like to clarify that the vaccination certificate of COVID-19 is not considered currently a requirement for travel to the UAE," the Embassy issued a clarification on its official Twitter account.
The policy of showing the NADRA vaccination certificate will come into effect from August 1, according to the UAE embassy in Pakistan. The new policy will not only apply to ordinary citizens but even diplomats and their families will have to undergo the same procedure.
Earlier, the UAE had announced that it would continue to ban flights from Pakistan and 13 other countries until July 21, 2021.
Other countries include India, Nigeria, South Africa, Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic Of Congo, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka.
In the notification, UAE's federal aviation authority had said that exceptions would be granted to cargo flights, as well as business and charter flights.
