ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday announced to hold nation-wide protest against the government over the unprecedented crisis of petrol shortage in in the Punjab.

Addressing a press conference here, PTI spokeswoman Shireen Mazari termed the current petrol crisis as a state oppression against the people.

She said the aim of the country-wide protest, the strategy for which will be announced soon, will be to press the government to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Mazari, however, said that this time around her party would not have to shut down cities as the same has already been done by the government itself.

“A meeting is likely to be held today between Jahangir Tareen and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar,” she said, adding, ‘we will take to the streets at an opportune time as the country is already in a state of war.

The PTI spokeswoman said no decision was taken in today’s meeting in regard to the Senate elections.

She said her party lawmakers had no intention to return to the assemblies and the PTI would announce its future course of action after the formation of Judicial Commission.
