FAISALABAD: Scores of villagers of Chak No.215-RB here on Friday staged a protest rally against the old sewerage system in their localities.

The rally started from Red Crescent Chowk and concluded at DCO Complex after passing through various city roads.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands.

They also staged a sit-in in front of DCO Office and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.

The protesters said that their localities were depicting a bleak picture of ponds of sewerage water which has turned into breeding nursery for mosquito to breed.

They demanded the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Naseem Sadiq to take action and issue orders to the concerned department for redressal of their grievances.

Meanwhile, DCO Naseem Sadiq had a meeting with the protestors and assured them that their sewerage related problems would be resolved on priority.

He directed the Managing Director (MD) Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Zahid Aziz to visit Chak No 215-RB Jaranwala Road and made arrangements to resolve their genuine problems on emergent basis.

In this connection, the MD WASA was also directed to provide report to DCO Office upto January 12.

Later, the demonstrators dispersed peacefully. (APP)
