ISLAMABAD: Sugar prices are rising again and according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the sweetener is now being sold at Rs115 per kg in the country.

The price of sugar in Karachi is the highest at Rs115 per kg. Meanwhile, the commodity is available at Rs110 per kg in Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Hyderabad and Quetta.

The price of sugar in Multan and Faisalabad is Rs108, while in Gujranwala, the sweetener is available at Rs107 per kg.

According to the statistics agency, sugar is being sold at Rs106 in Sukkur, Peshawar and Khuzdar, while in Sargodha, Larkana and Bannu the price of sugar is up to Rs105 per kg.

However, it is pertinent to mention that the government has fixed the retail price of sugar at Rs89.50 per kg.
