ISLAMABAD: Violent protests against the CNG shutdown as well as a backbreaking hike in gas tariff broke out in Islamabad on Monday, Geo News reported.
Commuters, transporters, and public at large shared the agitation condemning government for its ‘good for nothing’ policies.
Protesters blocked the Islamabad Expressway due to non-availability of public transport and suspended the traffic. They also blocked Faizabad flyover that connects twin cities.
The protesters hurled stones on passing vehicles. Earlier, they blocked expressway near Khana Bridge.
The protesters were mainly the commuters who were waiting for the transport since 6am and could not find any till 9 am. Agitated over the situation, people blocked a section of the Expressway and protested against the transport strike announced for Monday by the transporters.
Protest against CNG closure also took place in Bara Kahu area where the protesters blocked the main Shahrah-e-Kashmir.
The protesters also blocked G.T. Road near Rawat by parking trailers at the road.
