KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) Friday granted permission to All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) for holding public meeting at the ground, adjacent to Mazar-e-Quaid here on January 8.
The bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Salman Hamid disposing of the petition filed by Haris Nawaz, against delay in permission for holding public meeting by APML at Mazar-e-Quaid, observed that the partymay hold public meeting exactly at the same place where Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) held its public meeting on December 25, 2011 on same terms and condition laid down in the SHC order of December 24 in the PTI petition.
The petitioner, who is provincial General Secretary of APML, apolitical party headed by former President Gen. Pervez Musharraf submitted that on behalf of his party, he wrote a letter to Commissioner Karachi on December 22, 2011 for permission of holding public meeting on January 8, at Mazar-e-Quaid but the respondents with ulterior objectives of political rivalry are delaying permission.
He prayed the court to direct respondents to issue permission in favour of the petitioner for holding public meeting. He also prayed the court to restrain the respondents from disrupting/dislodging the proposed meeting. (APP)
