ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has issued the verdict in NRO Implementation case, Geo News reported. The Prime Minister Secretariat received the Show Cause notice.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk who headed the bench authored the 5-page order.

The SC Monday issued a show cause notice to the Prime Minister in a contempt of court issue regarding non-implementation of its December 16, 2009 decision on annulled National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) 2007.

The seven-member special bench headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed issued the show cause notice to the Prime Minister under Section 17 of Ordinance 5 of 2003 read with Article 204 of the Constitution.

The bench in its order said that under the current circumstances, they were left with no other option but to issue show cause notice to the Prime Minister as to why he should not be proceeded in contempt of court.

The bench summoned the Prime Minister to appear before the court on January 19 by observing that since it had been a show cause notice to him, therefore, he should personally appear.
