FIR registered for foreigners kidnapping

MULTAN: Cantonment Police on Friday registered an FIR against four unidentified accused for kidnapping two foreigners from Western Fort Colony of the Qasim Bela area and constituted teams for their recovery.

According to the police, Mr Bird (59), a German national, and Mr Giovanni Lepato (33), an Italian, of Welt Hunger Hilfe (WHH), a non-governmental organization, had returned from flood-hit areas on Thursday when they were kidnapped by four armed accused. The kidnappers also tortured their security guard Mohammad Omar.

Omar Farooq, an official of Cantonment Police Station, told APP that the first investigation reporrt (FIR) had been registered on the report of NGO's admin officer Mian Nauman Khursheed under Section 459/365 PPC and investigations were in progress.

Top police officials of Multan, led by City Police Officer Amir Zulfiqar, reached the site of incident after receiving information and started investigation.

The CPO told media persons that police were investigating the incident from every aspect, including security-related issues. He, however, added that the foreigners had not informed police about their presence in the area.
