QUETTA: The civil society on Saturday called for restoration of government ambulance service for the patients hailed from the far flung areas to the government hospitals and to avoid extra burden on the already financially- hit class of the society.

Ambulance service for dispatching the dead bodies and transporting patients of serious nature to the government hospitals had been suspended on the directives of the health official in previous year to save the fuel and other expenditures.

The citizens said that due to the suspension of the ambulance service, people from the downtrodden class are coerced to hire private vehicle to transport the corpse and patients on their own.

They demanded of the authorities concerned to restore the ambulance service so that people hailing from far-flung areas of the province to the government hospitals could be benefited from the facility. (APP)
