KARACHI: More than 6,000 police personnel will perform security duty for the main 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal procession in the metropolis on Sunday.
This was stated in a police press release issued here on Saturday.
It said that the Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, directed that foolproof and extra-ordinary security arrangements should be made on the occasion.
He also reviewed a police report regarding security arrangements for the 12th Rabi ul Awwal.
The report said that in view of Rabi ul Awwal celebrations, the police force has been put on alert for necessary security arrangements.
More than 6,000 police personnel would be deployed for security duty at the main 12th Rabi ul Awwal procession in the metropolis.
The report said that walk through gates and metal detectors would be in place at Memon Masjid and Nishter Park. There will be sweeping and clearance by the bomb disposal squad also along the route of the procession. Police personnel would also be deployed on the rooftop of the buildings.
The IGP directed that foolproof security arrangements should be made and protection of the participants be ensured on the occasion.
